A quick scan over the ingredient lists of many of the most popular weight loss supplements will show a surprising trend: they all include a lot of basic vitamins and minerals. Although we've yet to find the "magic bullet", research has underlined how important nutrients are to the weight loss process.

Calcium provides a small increase in your body's core temperature, known as thermogenesis, which can cause your body's metabolism to speed up and burn fat.

Workout Routines, Fats and Weight Loss

There are many other vitamins and supplements that can increase the number of calories you burn during your workout.  As mentioned above, both vitamin B12 and calcium can increase your body's metabolism and trigger your body to burn more fat.

Additionally, unsaturated fat supplements can actually help you lose weight. It might seem strange, since fat has come to be associated with weight gain, but not all fats are unhealthy. While you should limit or restrict saturated and trans fats, omega 3, 6 and 9 can all be beneficial to your weight loss goal.

Omega 3, for example, can make you feel more full than you really are and cause your appetite to weaken, leading to weight loss. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise, omega 3 supplements can help you lose weight in a healthy manner.

While essential, omega 6 are not nearly as vital as omega 3. In fact, you should limit your omega 6 intake to about five percent of your diet to avoid increasing your risk of cancer and heart disease. Many Americans actually consume too much omega 6 than is required.

Omega 9, on the other hand, can help decrease the bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol in your body. This will not only help you avoid harmful disease, but can help you lose weight similarly to a low-fat diet.
