Still More Wine and Cheese

Four months into wedding planning, and it’s time for a break! Somebody turned 30 this month and he finally got his surprise! What David thought was a day of Halloween fun yesterday turned into a day-trip-limo-excursion to Napa for wine tasting! For me, the best part was as the limos were pulling up, David jokingly made a comment about how we didn't have to get 2 limos for him...little did he know they actually were for him! David and his cousin, Jason, turned the big 3-0 this month (glad I’m not that old!) so Jason’s wife, Audrey, and I started planning this surprise 3 months ago! It started out rather smooth, booking 2 limos to hold 18 people for Oct 14th – right before both of their birthdays and the day of the Riverbank Wine and Cheese Festival.

Which is the perfect decoy b/c nothing else is ever planned the same day as Wine and Cheese! But, Mr. popular-Jason had other plans for that day so we had to reschedule for the following week. But, wouldn’t you know Jason was busy again! So 2 weeks later, we finally pulled it off! What an adventure (to say the least - what hapens in the limo, stays in the limo)…starting at 10am all the way to 8pm. I think Audrey and I deserve a medal of honor for this…some kind of metal…stone…sparkling-thing! Check out the pictures!!!

Photographer. Check. Videographer. Check.

Last night we drove back up to Stockton and met with and booked our videographer. He’s been in the video business for about 20 years and we really liked his work. On the way home, we booked our Photographer too! So that’s two more things off the list.
Tomorrow we’re taking a day off from wedding planning and having a day of Halloween fun! A trip to the Bay area with friends, Chris and Gina, for the Harvest Festival in downtown Pleasanton and a very scary Haunted House in Fremont.

More on Honeymoons

We met with a travel agent last week to look at our honeymoon options. Everything about Antiqua sounded like the perfect place...everything except the travel itinerary. Traveling from the west coast, we have to fly the red-eye Sunday night and wouldn't arrive in Antiqua until Monday at 2pm. Coming back we would have to leave on Saturday and spend the night in Newark, arriving in CA on Sunday.

That would only give us 4 days to get an outrageous sunburn, snorkel with the sea turtles and swim with the dolphins. Wherever we go, hopefully there aren't raging waves like in Maui - we don't need anyone separating their shoulder! So, we left the travel agency with some travel guides and are currently researching the Bahamas.

Photographer Wanted

Yesterday was a big day, but not much to do with wedding planning. It was the annual Riverbank Wine and Cheese Festival. This is the one day we can pretend we live in a big city and we can walk "a few blocks downtown" to meet friends and spend the day in the "city". For those of you who had better things to do, you missed out on Riverbank's stylish new wine glass which looks something like Riedel's wine tumbler. Another set of glasses to add to our collection, which I don't think we'll ever use again! However, we did make a decision to keep our options open regarding our photographer. As we've been comparing our photo session experience with others this past week, we decided that perhaps we should find someone with a little more experience. So we're gong to meet with J&J Photography, who come highly recommended by Otter Bob Productions (who happens to be our neighbor). We're also going to meet with a few other photographers who have been referred by friends. I'm usually one to take a chance and try something new, but maybe when it comes to capturing our wedding day this isn't the best approach. I think when we meet the right person we'll feel like this is someone we want to invite over for a family dinner!

Boy do my cheeks hurt :)

You try smiling for an hour straight! Today was a good practice session for June 23rd. We practiced our frozen smile faces while taking engagement pictures at the University of the Pacific campus. Rose gardens, ivy-covered brick buildings, peeking around trees, David on bended knee...ridiculous poses. Luckily the A's won yesterday so we weren't pressed for time - otherwise we probably would have missed the first pitch - and we never go in late to an A's game! We'll attempt to post a few pictures on the website once we get them.

By the Way

Since we got engaged during a baseball game...

For those interested, the A's begin their playoff jaunt tomorrow at 10:00AM PST. For those that don't have teams in the playoffs (i.e. anyone in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Florida), I expect to hear nothing but cheering for the "Kelly Green, Fort Knox Gold and Wedding Gown White" --- come on, you knew somewhere the post had to have something mentioning a wedding, huh? GO A'S!!!

By the way, feel free to look for Lisa and myself on the TV --- we have resigned ourselves to probably be shown due to our inherent attractive nature.

Hmmm

What would Lisa do if I did something such as these wedding vows?

I think everyone that knows her would tend to say that she would kick my butt....so maybe the humor should be in somewhere else than the vows? I believe so...I'll keep looking and will keep everyone informed.
