This week has been crazy, but I guess I'm getting what I asked for 2 months ago! Monday, after work, we drove up to Stockton to meet with a photographer who also does videography. We set up an appointment to get our engagement pictures taken, that way we can see if we like his work and demeanor. I read somewhere that your photographer should be someone you would invite over for a family dinner. David thought that was crazy but - I'm just telling you what I read! Although I think we should have the nittany lion in the background of our photos...the photographer says UOP is his favorite place to take outside pictures. He did get very excited when he started explaining all the perfect spots he likes to use.
Tuesday, we met with the Doubletree, signed the contract and got all our questions answered. We took another look at the ballroom and got an idea of how the room can be set up. The Save the Date cards are printing as we speak and we are working on compiling addresses for the guest list. Although I was able to come up with five more things we should be working on, we're definitely moving forward :)

Dancing Queen
I'm back on the band pursuit. Allwedding.com found me just what I needed...a nice list of bands in the Bay area! After many phone calls and emails, I have gotten some song lists, music samples and a couple price quotes. Now the questions are do we want a female or male lead singer, a more jazzy band, big band-type, a top 40 cover band or...a DJ?

Is It Just Me?
Or has everyone else noticed that our wonderful countdown clock isn't counting down, but rather remains the same date FOREVER? I'm sure people are wondering if I did this on purpose to take a final shot at staying a bachelor, but heck, even I am not even smart enough to do that. Give me some time and I'll see if I can get it fixed. In the meantime, please go to the store, purchase a 2007 calendar and count backwards. Thanks for your help!

You can eat cake!
And we did! There has to be some element of surprise on June 23rd so all you can know is that we are having cake! Whoever knew there were so many different kinds of fillings, frosting, shapes, colors…the options are endless. But, we actually left there with a good idea of what we want. We do have 8 months to change our minds, but that’s one more thing to check off the list.

Moooving On
Hopefully we haven't spoken too soon. I've been warned about vendors who don't return phone calls. It's especially concerning when that vendor is someone like your reception site. Just a slightly important detail to confirm. Voicemails, emails, lost mailings, computer problems, people who are just busy, busy, busy. Too busy for a new customer? I don't work in sales, but that doesn't make much sense to me.
We've contacted a few bands but haven't found anyone we're real impressed with. Okay, so I contacted one and didn't like the music list. The other websites we had referrals for were not very impressive. I'm starting to wonder if what we have in mind actually exists. Haven't seen too many wedding bands that can play the more recent songs that David and I want and play them well. Nothing against older songs, I think they're fun to dance to, but I think we should be at least familiar with the songs on the playlist. So, we've been considering a DJ as well. We will be meeting with supposedly the best cake baker in Modesto today. Not for actual cake tasteing but more of a meet and greet and to see her work.

It's time to celebrate!
Finally, the post we've all been anxiously waiting at the edge of our seats for (including myself!). Even bigger than the 7th pick of the 2007 fantasy football draft (Ben Roethlisberger, ha ha). One more thing to check off the list. Some of you found out last night as we celebrated Nikki and Buddy's wedding at Wine and Roses in Lodi, CA. The decision has been made. Another California wedding! Sorry, to all the locals hoping to get a vacation on the east coast. Looks like the Tracy family and friends will be packing their bags with great anticipation of what the Central Valley has to offer. I'm excited for everyone to see what my life is like out here. Maybe even getting a chance to spend some time in San Francisco looking at the Full House bridge! June 23rd is the date. The ceremony will be at Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon, CA with the reception at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Modesto. It's smooth sailing from here.
