It's a good thing I like sports. On 11-15-03, David and I had our first date at a San Jose Sharks hockey game, our second date at a 49er/Steeler footbal game 2 days later... and he proposed to me 2 1/2 years later at a Pirates/White Sox baseball game in Pittsburgh. It can get a little out of hand on football-sundays in the fall when the TVs are on from 10 am - 10 pm with nothing but football. And, the endless amounts of car time spent listening to sports radio. But, sports are definitely a big part of our lives. David and I both played soccer, basketball and baseball/softball through high school and yes, RC was state champs David's senior year - which I'm often reminded of. A few weeks ago he finally took me up on my basketball challenge and we played a friendly game of horse and 1 on 1 down at the park. These days, David would rather watch sports than play and I'm the other way around but we find a way to compromise. The best was when we went running (for the first and so far last time) in Maui - I definitely have him beat when it comes to a long run, but as soon as we started sprinting I was left in the dust. (Partly due to me laughing so hard that I couldn't run.)
So, seeing my name and will you marry me? on the scoreboard in the 4th inning of the Pirates game wasn't exactly the most romantic proposal, but it was a perfect proposal for us. From here, www.roadtoourwedding.com was born (sister site to www.roadtonutrition.com). We'll be sharing our journey of planning a wedding from start to finish so that whatever state you may live in you can be a part of our excitement and our blunders. Enjoy!
