Late Start.
It was dark this morning when I woke up. Clock said 5:30am. Time to get up. Opened my eyes again and the sun was out…clock said 6:05am. Now I’m rushing around the house. Not running really isn’t an option as I think about the upcoming mornings and my mile goal for the week. Luckily it’s early in training and I’m just working on building up a sound base…5 miles is easy to fit in. A month from now it would be “long-run day and I wouldn’t be as forgiving on myself. One month prior to this and I probably would have just had a relaxing yoga morning and carried on with my day. Ah, the joys of training. Anyway, I have a new route and that’s what’s pushing me out the door. New routes are like a treasure to runners – different scenery, new ground, hills, flats and maybe even some new runners. If you’re lucky enough to live in the Bay area…you’ll never run out of running routes. The San Francisco Running Guide by Bob Cooper is a great book to help you explore the area and tally up miles.

You're already training? Oh boy, I'm way behind. I've got a long way to go in a short amount of time if I plan on keeping up with you in SF. I can run for 5 minutes on the tread mill... does that count for anything? ;-)

Could be worse. You could be woken every morning at 5:30 and not be in training. Welcome to my life.
