I am a Registered Dietitian with a Masters degree in clinical and sports nutrition and am an ACSM certified Health and Fitness Instructor. Nutrition and fitness are a huge part of my life as I enjoy encouraging and educating others to make healthy choices. I strive for balance in everything I do...not too much...not too little.
The best advice I can give you? Anything in moderation. Pretty much anything can fit into a healthy lifestyle. Most people hear the word dietitian and think I eat celery and lettuce all day. Hopefully, with this website, I’ll change that misconception along with many others out there about living healthy. I love food, love to cook and also love exercise. I am always looking for new recipes to try, get excited about exploring grocery stores (especially Trader Joes and Whole Foods) and planning menus.
I’ve participated in sports since 2nd grade playing soccer, basketball and softball through high school. I never use to like to run until college when I found an awesome running route through downtown Pittsburgh, over a bridge to the South Side and back up hundreds of steps to the Duquesne University campus. I went on to run the Pittsburgh Marathon, Nittany Valley Half Marathon, Erie Half Marathon and the San Francisco Half Marathon, along with many 5Ks, 10K, 10 milers and whatever other race I could find. My favorite race is a 10 miler across the Golden Gate Bridge which I ran when I first moved to California.
I'm a Penn State alumni and a former Seminole too. Today, I live in central California and work in outpatient education teaching health education classes and counseling individual patients and...I teach nutrition classes at a college. I continue to run regularly and compete in occasional local races. I've been doing yoga for 9 years and strength training for 11. I can be contacted at lisa@roadtonutrition.com.
